Protecting Children

The Internet is a great tool for our youth. Sadly, members of the malicious and criminal community seek to take advantage of our youth. Here are some basic facts gathered since 2006 that illustrate demand for child pornography, children’s exposure to porn and those seeking to take advantage of the vulnerable youth.

  • UK’s largest ISP, BT, is blocking up to 40,000 child porn pages per day.
  • On the Gnutella forum platform, 116,000 searches on “Child Pornography” each day.
  • Average age of first Internet exposure to porn is age 11.
  • 8 – 16 year olds having viewed porn online is 90%.
  • 7-17 year olds who would freely give out a mailing address is 29%.
  • 7-17 year olds who would freely give out their e-mail address is 14%.
  • Sexual solicitations of youth in chat rooms is 89%.
  • Youths who receive sexual solicitation is 1 in 7.
